Archive Page #2

February 2003

2-27-2003 I have added two more pages.  One is a Archive Page. I will be moving items from this page there once they get some age on them.

2-25-2003 I bought a couple of vintage QST Magazines from 1928-1930 this week, Wow! wasn't Amateur Radio simple back then?

2-10-2003 Our New Project: Building a Morse Code Practice Keyer that really works on 2-Meters HT (Great for Techs that are trying to get primed for their CW Code Test).

I used the original schematics that allowed me to build my first Ham Radio Practice Oscillator and mixed it with a little print to connect it to my HT.

This print was taken from my ICOM IC-T90A Handbook.   A similar print was inside my Realistic HTX-202 manual.  First I built the oscillator.  Then I added this part to the #3 pin & ground on code oscillator and I was on the air.  I tried other connections to the mic using capacitors and resistors but this seems to be the only one that worked for me.

I found an old set of defective computer speakers to make the case.  Then a few trips down to the local Radio Shack for parts I didn't have.

I bread boarded the circuit first to make sure it worked.  Then soldered in all the goodies.  Using the good ole' 555 timer this rascal was fun to build.
